Caravan - In The Land of Grey and Pink
I’ve completed remixing Caravan’s In the Land of Grey and Pink for its 2011 reissue, delivering new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes of this classic from one of the UK’s most cherished progressive rock bands. Originally released in 1971 on Decca/Deram, this third studio album is widely seen as a pinnacle of Caravan’s career. Rolling Stone ranked it No. 34 on their list of the ‘50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time,’ describing it as evoking “a Middle Earth sunset, with the music wavering between medieval folk melodies and jazz-savvy musos.” AllMusic calls it “one of the most beloved, and eccentric prog albums of them all” and “probably Caravan’s finest hour.” For me, working on this record was a chance to dive into a unique blend of whimsical folk and progressive ambition that is all over this classic album.
