One of the biggest albums of the eighties, Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s 1984 double album Welcome to the Pleasuredome will be released as a deluxe edition on 31st October.
Nasher told me about the 30min Pleasuredome mix last year, and from that second all I wanted to do was hear it! Like you I was a massive fan of the FGTH 12" and Cassette mixes. So you have hit peek audience with me on this one!
What will the tracklist be? I have always loved the CD version with the remixes of Two Tribes and War, and without San Jose, and for me that is the preferred version. Will there be both the CD and LP/casette versions on the Blu ray?
I had a pleasure to listen to a Dolby Atmos mix of Welcome to the Pleasuredome (just that particular song among others) as a part of Immersive presentation held by Steven himself in Munich last year on a HighEnd 2024 fair. I was blown away with the mix. Off course, it was a very expensive PMC installation (300k+), but still it was masterful adaptation to Atmos.
I am sooo pumped for this. I recently finished building myself a 7.1.4 Atmos room at home, and have been absolutely loving listening to Steven’s recent solo records in all their Atmos glory.
A while back I actually posted on the Steven Wilson Discord that I would love to see him remix all the classic Frankie 12 inches in Atmos, and although this isn’t exactly what I was asking for, it’s certainly more than I ever expected.
I still hold out hope that one day he’ll be asked to tackle those incredible Two Tribes mixes, plus the equally as good 12 inches from Frankie’s second album, Liverpool.
