Jethro Tull - A Passion Play
I’ve remixed Jethro Tull’s A Passion Play for its 2014 reissue, creating new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes from the 1973 multi-track tapes, alongside the Chateau d’Isaster sessions. Ian Anderson later called the album “a step too far,” regretting its dense, saxophone-heavy sound and complex afterlife narrative, but fans like Steve Harris of Iron Maiden cherish its intricate genius, as do I. I worked to make the album more transparent, clarifying the interplay of Anderson’s flute, Martin Barre’s guitar, and the band’s jazz-folk-rock fusion, enhancing moments like the fluttering flutes in The Memory Bank and the quirky The Story of the Hare Who Lost His Spectacles.
