Jethro Tull - Benefit
I’ve remixed Jethro Tull’s Benefit for its 2013 reissue, using the original multi-track tapes from sessions mostly recorded in December 1969 and January 1970 to create new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes. This album, a pivotal moment for Tull, introduced keyboards by John Evan, an old school friend of the band who joined Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Glenn Cornick, and Clive Bunker, initially for an eight-month tour but stayed for over a decade, his classical training shaping Tull’s 1970s sound. The release includes new mixes of most single A and B sides from the period, except The Witch’s Promise (using the original mono and stereo mixes due to missing multitracks), and a flat transfer of the original stereo mix.
