Firstly, the long awaited release of my Dolby Atmos mix of Tears For Fears’ masterpiece (well one of them!) The Seeds of Love. I completed this remix in 2023 so it’s been a while coming. Additionally it includes revised versions of my earlier stereo and 5.1 remixes, and instrumental versions of the album in stereo, 5.1 and Atmos (with some of the instrumentals running slightly longer than their vocal counterparts). There is also a standalone vinyl release of the new stereo remix. Can the original mix be equalled? Nope! But for those perhaps wanting a slightly different perspective on this work of art without wanting the surround versions it’s there (and very limited).
Spandau Ballet Gold is the band’s classic 18 track best of compilation remixed in stereo, 5.1, Atmos and instrumental form. It actually features 19 tracks with the addition of 1986 single How Many Lies. Best of remix projects are unusual because it typically means locating multitrack tapes from many different eras and locations, and sometimes (as in this case) across different labels, so I’m very happy that we were able to pull everything together to do this. Gary Kemp has heard and approved all the new mixes. Simply some of the finest pop music of the eighties.
Finally, Manic Street Preachers are releasing a live version of their third album from 1994 The Holy Bible, and included on the SDE blu-ray is my new Atmos mix, as well as new stereo, 5.1 and instrumental mixes, all approved by James Dean Bradfield.
Perhaps because of its harrowing subject matter, The Holy Bible was not a huge commercial success at the time, but it has gone on to gather acclaim in the years since its release, with many British music magazines listing it as one of the greatest albums ever released (in 2011 NME also ranked it at number one in their Top 50 Darkest Albums Ever listing).
