Pink Floyd - 8-Tracks
A new release celebrating Pink Floyd's undisputed classic tracks from the 1971-1979 imperial era!
As part of Sony’s new curation of the Pink Floyd catalogue, and following large-scale projects dedicated to Pink Floyd At Pompeii and Wish You Were Here, a new single disc compilation album 8-Tracks will be next. The album fulfils the brief of being a fresh primer for the casual or new listener, covering as it does the band’s undisputed classic tracks from the 71-79 imperial era, including Money, Wish You Were Here, Another Brick in the Wall part 2, and Comfortably Numb. However, a couple of things may also appeal to the dedicated fan. Notably the new collection includes the first official release on CD and vinyl of the integrated version of Pigs on the Wing parts 1+2 with additional guitar solo. This was created back in 1977 exclusively for the 8-track cartridge release of Animals, and has been taken directly from the original 8-track master found in the band’s archive. My own modest contribution was being asked to sequence the album in classic Floyd style as a continuous listening experience, and in order to do this I accessed the original multitracks to lift out some of the sound effects to create crossfades between the tracks.
8-tracks will be released on vinyl and CD by Sony Music on 5th June. Pre-order here.

I find it so satisfying that my favorite band of all time collaborates with my favorite solo musician. Short of Alan Parsons on Dark Side, I can't think of a better engineer for the band. They clearly trust you because they know you are going to make the best choices for the music itself. That must be so gratifying to you personally.
Will there be a hi-res disc (i.e. blu-ray audio, 5.1) released?
