The Who - Who's Next
My remix of The Who's classic 1971 album Who’s Next - almost invariably and indisputably ranked as one of the greatest rock albums of all time - originally came out as part of a big box set last year, but will now be reissued as a stand alone blu-ray by Universal in collaboration with Superdeluxeedition. It will only be available to buy for a 10 day pre-order window directly and exclusively from the SDE website (if you’ve ordered other releases in the SDE series before, you will already know the drill).
The audio only blu-ray includes my remix of the album in high resolution stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos, as well as the original 9 track album mix in high resolution stereo. It also includes my remixes of 14 bonus tracks in stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. Some of the Who’s key studio recordings from the era were only released as non-album singles, classics such as Let’s See Action, Long Live Rock, The Seeker, Join Together and Relay are all present here. Then there were several other songs the band recorded for inclusion as part of Pete Townsend’s Lifehouse project, but that were left unreleased at the time, essential cuts such as Pure and Easy, Too Much of Anything, Naked Eye, and Water.
But there’s even more! The SDE Blu-ray exclusively features instrumental 96/24 stereo mixes of all 22 of the tracks remixed for the project. These instrumental mixes were not included in the deluxe box set so appear here for the first (and probably only) time.
One caveat to all this is that one of the key tracks on the album itself Bargain could not be located in multitrack form, so unfortunately this track is only present in Penteo upmix form.
Head over the SDE website for more details, full track listing, and to place your order, which must be received by 1st November to ensure you get your copy. Release date is 17th January. https://superdeluxeedition.com/news/the-who-whos-next-on-sde-exclusive-blu-ray-audio/
