Ultravox - The Collection
Ultravox's 1984 compilation The Collection gets a deluxe 4CD+2 Blu-ray reissue with expanded tracks, remixes, and videos, limited to 5,000 units.
Chrysalis continue their series of excellent Ultravox reissues with a 4CD+2 Blu-ray deluxe edition of the band’s classic 1984 compilation The Collection. The original album included 14 hit singles recorded between 1980-84, but this massively expanded new edition adds 3 more discs of later singles, alternate versions, B-sides and 12 inch remixes, and 2 blu-rays of videos and TV appearances. There is no immersive audio element to this release, but as I did for Lament last year, I have created extended remixes of four singles that were not given any 12 inch mix treatment at the time: Hymn (10.45), Sleepwalk (6.57), The Thin Wall (9.40), and Visions in Blue (8.48). As with those Lament reworkings (which seemed to go down very well with fans) these new remixes take an old school eighties approach, being sonically faithful to the original singles and using only material from the multitrack tapes.
The Collection deluxe edition is limited to 5,000 units worldwide and comes in a large format 12-inch box with rigid-board slipcase and two 20-page booklets. Released on 5th December.

I worked at Budget Tapes & Records in Everett when this was released. Played it in the store over and over, partly because the low end on We Came To Dance THUMPED.
