XTC - Oranges and Lemons
I’ve remixed XTC’s Oranges & Lemons for its 2015 reissue, released 16th October, working with Andy Partridge to create a new stereo mix and a 24bit/96khz 5.1 surround mix from the original 1989 multi-track tapes, fully approved by XTC. This vibrant album, with its lush pop craftsmanship in tracks like The Mayor of Simpleton and King for a Day, shines with the band’s signature blend of Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, and Dave Gregory’s melodic and quirky energy. The CD features the new stereo mix, while the Blu-ray, continuing the “virtual box set” concept of Nonsuch and Drums and Wires, includes the 5.1 mix in LPCM and DTS HD MA, instrumental versions, a flat transfer of the original stereo mix, demo and work tape sessions, pre-recording rehearsals, single mixes, XTC’s cover of Captain Beefheart’s Ella Guru, and promo films like The Road to Oranges & Lemons.
